Crafty Hobart (by night)

As part of The Derwent Experience's mission to promote #positiveconnections, and to compliment our Drink Derwent Valley tours, we are excited to offer you, the discerning craft drinking public, our Crafty Hobart (by night) experience.

Taste. Learn. Meet. Enjoy.

Tasmania is a-wash with funky fermenting, distilling and brewing creativity, and now you can join an evening guided tour that will showcase some of the best of them, and visit four Hobart Craft Breweries in a fun, safe and delicious way.

Time:

6pm start. We start at Lark Cellar Door and Distillery, 14 Davey Street - meet at table near the bar, we leave together in the bus shortly after.

9.30pm finish at the final Brewery in North Hobart. From here we can take you back to your Hotel, into town or possibly even back to your home.

Price:

Public Tour: $135 per person

                    $80 per person concession (see below for details)

Private Tour: Varies, for between 4 and 11 people, we can tailor brewery visits for an evening or daytime tour. 

Leaving aside the multitude of fine establishments that offer locally produced drinks for your drinking pleasure and SEEP (social engagement enhancement protocols), there is also a dynamic layer of producers in Hobart itself, bringing joy to the locals as well as sending their liquid gold out like medallioned emissaries around the world to hedonists, connoisseurs and scoundrels alike. 

Join us (most) Thursday and Saturday evenings for a liquid degustation that includes visiting four of the following breweries:

• Hobart Brewing Company 

• Shambles Brewery

• Fox Friday Craft Brewery 

• The Albert Brewery and Taproom

• Winston Brewing Company

• T Bone Brewing Company

• Deep South Brewing Company

We start the tour with a half shot of whisky at Lark Cellar Door and Whisky Bar where we set the scene for the evening and the breweries we visit together. This is our orientation, and how we get through the night safely. 

What is included?: 

• Classic Cask Whisky at Lark Distillery to warm things up, followed by drinks at each of the four breweries we visit. 

• Welcome from Establishment at each location, including tastings to help you decide which one from the many to select and enjoy.

• Beer friendly nibbles and snacks to get you through - we do recommend that you eat enough beforehand to tide you over, but there will be opportunities for great food grabs if required.

• Safe transport from first meet to last goodbye, with great music between venues to keep the vibes up. Singing Cold Play’s “Yellow” on the final leg is acceptable behaviour.

• Drop off at your Hotel, Accommodation or Home (as long as it is not too far away for Driver, otherwise a nominal extra if further, eg Taroona, Lindisfarne) 

• Great guiding, story and care from driver/business owner Sam.

• Water, plenty of water - and no pressure to drink any more than you are comfortable with (beer that is.)

• A new, or renewed, appreciation of Hobart’s brilliant energy, culture and output, as well as a deeper understanding of what actually goes into making a good beer for good people.

• Find a new favourite beer or venue and meet nice people - this one alone could be gold.

You are given the opportunity to taste flagship, seasonal and local favourites on this tour. Have a great time without the hassles of transportation between breweries.

A note on the prices: Concession price is a reduced rate that includes drinks at only one venue. Other venues you can still taste and try for free and then decide if you would like to purchase any beer/s. Tasting paddles are common at Craft Breweries, so  four small glasses allows great opportunities to test and try. You still get all the benefits of introductions, welcomes, information, laughter, connection and of course transport.
